Introductory text
Launched in Summer 1974, the CX proudly represents luxury for Citroën. With front-wheel drive transmission and hydropneumatic suspension, it was voted Car of The Year in 1975, a reward earned thanks to the talent of its creators.
Robert Opron, who designed the GS which inspired it, signs its fluid and aerodynamic external line. What is the CX’s special feature? An astonishing curved windscreen, together with a boot without tailgate despite its hatchback shape.
Michel Harmand also surprises with the interior style, with the creation of a control panel all accessible without taking your hands off the wheel.
The many versions, station-wagon and Limousine/Prestige in particular, span its successful career. With the arrival of the Citroën XM in 1989, the CX departs in 1991.
